Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom in the Himalayas’ eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. In the High Himalayas, peaks such as 7,326m Jomolhari are popular trekking destinations. Paro Taktsang monastery (also known as Tiger’s Nest) clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley.

Day wise Itinerary

Begin creating happy memories right from your arrival at Bagdogra Airport, where a TravelBolo’s representative will meet you and assist in your transfer to Phuentsholing – The Gateway of Bhutan by Road from India, Phuentsholing (also sometimes spelled Phuentsholing) is the second largest town in Bhutan (population around 40,000) and is located on the Indian border, next to the town of Jaigaon. After reaching Phuentsholing we will proceed towards immigration office and overnight will be at Phuentsholing.

After morning breakfast in the hotel check out from and drive towards Thimphu after reaching there check in the hotel and visit for local sightseeing in Thimphu there are many places are listed to visit like:

Breakfast in the Hotel. View Memorial Chorten built in memory of the 3rd King. Visit Buddha viewpoint. Visit Simply Bhutan – A living Museum. Visit Craft Bazaar – the Authentic Bhutanese Crafts Bazaar also known as the handicraft market of Thimphu is a perfect place to get a glimpse inside the art and craft of Bhutan. Visit National Institute for Zorig Chusum – This institute, commonly known as ‘the painting school’, operates four- to six-year courses that provide instruction in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts. Students specialise in painting (of both furniture and thangkas – painted religious pictures, usually on canvas), woodcarving (masks, statues, bowls), embroidery (hangings, boots, clothes) or statue-making (clay). Students are well used to having visitors while they work and it’s fine to take photos. visit Bhutan Textile Museum then Drive to Paro, with a stop en route at DochuLa Pass (3,100 meters), where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the highest mountains of Bhutan.Visit Druk Wangyal Chortens. After a photo break, drive to warm valley of Punakha. Drive to Paro River Point Visit Taa Dzong – If time permits View Beer Factory Evening view the Airport ‘ Overnight stay will be at Paro.

 

Today after a leisurely breakfast we will proceed for an excursion to the famous place called Taktsang Monastery (5hrs hike). Taktsang Monastery (Tiger Nest) is located at the top of about 800 meter cliff in Paro. It takes slightly more than an hour and a half to reach the monastery on foot from the nearest road point. Taktshang or the Tigers lair as the monastery is widely regarded as one of the most important in Bhutan. Its history is massociated with the visit of Guru Padmasambhava, the Indian saint who came to Bhutan in the 8th century AD. The cave was named Taktshang after Guru Rinpoche flew into the cave from KurtoeSingyeDzong in eastern Bhutan riding on a tigress. “Trip to Bhutan is never complete without climbing to Taktshang”, says one tourist. Indeed it’s true as the journey there fills you with spiritual bliss. Overnight in Paro

 

After breakfast we will visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom. Rinpung Dzong (also known as Paro Dzong) which has a long and fascinating history. Then we will drive to Phuentsholing and overnight stay at Phuentsholing.
