Kedarnath Pilgrimage Trek Package

Package Detail
RATING :
5/5

Kedarnath Pilgrimage Trek is a hike to a Hindu Temple in Garhwal Himalayas of Uttrakhand dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and was initially built by Pandavas and considered to be one of the holiest Hindu Shrines of Lord Shiva. At an altitude of about 3500 metres above sea level , it is located on the shores of the Mandakini River , a tributary of Ganga.
According to the legends and history, after the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas brothers came here to meet Lord Shiva on the advice of sage Vyasa as they wanted to seek forgiveness for killing of their kin during the war. But Lord Shiva didn’t wanted to forgive them , So he transformed into a bull and hid among the cattle on the hill. When the Pandavas managed to track him, he tried to disappear by sinking himself head-first into the ground. Bhima grabbed his tail, forcing him to appear before them and forgive them. The Pandavas brothers then built the first temple at Kedarnath. The portions of Shiva’s body appeared at four other locations and collectively, these five places came to known as the five Kedaras (“Panch Kedar”). The head of the bull appeared at the location of Rudranath.
